Munich Locals will have their big day at the EYS
Five years ago the Climbing Team Munich-Oberland had been founded in order to develop competitive youth climbing. As a first step, 45 young talents were invited to take part in a special scouting workshop in 2004 and were then divided into 5 different groups according to the climbing level of the kids. This was the cornerstone of the climbing team. To date, more
than 200 kids are training in 35 groups of different levels. It was only short after the Climbing team had been founded when the team members had their first top results at the Bavarian Championships. One year later, the Munich-Oberland climbers made it to the finals and the podiums at the national competitions and championships. Here, the youth climbers caught the attention of the National Coaches who appointed the first Munich-Oberland climbers for the National Youth Team. Besides Samuel Adolph and Luisa Deubzer, who are currently in the National Team, three more climbers who have qualified for the EYS via the national ranking will compete for Munich – Oberland. This makes for Munich-Oberland to be the biggest group within the German starters – and some of them will have good chances to make it to the finals!
