Registration Deadline is over – more than 300 climbers registered for Lead & Speed!
More than 300 climbers from 23 nations have registered for both Lead & Speed, among them even one starter from Venezuela! This big number of climbers will guarantee for a full house in Thalkirchen and for an exciting competition. Many newly appointed World Youth Champions will take part in the competition and will start as top favorites in their age groups. Above all, Germany`s World champion Sebastian Halenke (Youth B) together with teammate and local Sammy Adolph from Munich is a good bet for the Youth B victory. They will surely show a good fight with vice-World Champion Domen Skofic (SLO). In the youth B female category, Munich local Luisa Deubzer is eager to compensate for her bad luck in Valence when she just missed the podium. Her teammate Lilli Färber is also a candidate for the medal ranks – if the two can defy the Austrian World Youth Champion Katharina Posch.
Although the big Czech Mega climbing-star Adam Ondra will not compete in Munich, the suspense continues in the male youth A category: Germany`s Alexander Megos, the current EYS leader, was not happy with his 8th rank at the WYCH and now wants to play a major role when it comes to appointing the European Title. He just proved that he is currently in perfect shape when he onsighted routes up to 8b just before the Championships in Valence. His teammate Jan Hojer was also not happy with his performance at the WYCH – he completely blew the competition and is now just in the right mood to show the other contestants that he also has to be taken into account.

Katherine Choong (SUI) will be the top favorite in the Female Youth A category – very probably only the Russian 2008 European Champion Dinara Fakhritdinova and the two French vice World Champions Helene Janicot and Julia Serriere have similar chances to win in Munich. German Joker Isabell Leiner has just recovered from a longer lasting finger injury and did not qualify for the WYCH – hopefully she will have a good run in Munich.
In the oldest age group the DAV enters the competition with a couple of candidates for the podium: Above all, multiple German Champion Juliane Wurm who also just missed the podium in Valence.

Martin Stranik (CZ)
Only one week after her performance at Arco`s legendary Rockmaster, she will have the chance to take revenge at the 5-times World Youth Champion and non-stop rival Charlotte Durif (F) who is also registered for the EYS. With Ines Dull and Luisa Neumärker the DAV has two more girls who can make it to the podium in Munich.
In the Male Junior category there will be a couple of top favorites who will give the DAV boys a hard time: Czech Powerhouse and former Bouldering vice World Champion Martin Stranik, Austria`s Mario Lechner, and the 2nd and 3rd from the WYCH Gauthier Supper (F) and Eric Mateos Lopez (E). Germany`s Marcel Dippon will have hopefully been fully recovered from his recent mononucleosis and will also play a role in the finals – not to mention Thomas Tauporn whose start in Munich is not confirmed yet.
And maybe some of the additional German starters who have been selected according to the current National Ranking will make it to the finals – some of these additional starters are former members of the National Youth Team and already have experience in international competitions.

Charlotte Durif
And not to forget the spectacular speed competition: Step by step the Germans are acquiring a taste for this climbing discipline: More and more speed walls have been erected in Germany`s climbing halls and at Stuttgart`s Speed EYS in July the German climbers showed that they can really put the pedal to the metal. With Isabell Haag, Sofia Porscha, Maximilian Porscha and Fabian Bosler Germany`s fastest boys and girls from the DAV section Schwaben will represent Germany in Munich -some of them are holding the European Youth Speed record on the 10m standard wall. The Germans have to rival with nobody less than the Speed World Youth Champions Dinara Fakhritdinova (RUS), Leonardo Gontero (ITA), Alina Gaydamakina (RUS) and Aleksandra Rudzinska (POL). So the ropes will get hot in Munich…
